[NEohioPAL] Seeking Early Childhood Theater Instructor

Beck Center for the Arts seeks a talented and engaging arts education instructor to join our theater education faculty. In this role, the individual will lead theater education classes while promoting and nurturing the education of students by planning and implementing effective and developmentally appropriate classroom experiences; providing a safe environment conducive to learning; keeping students informed as to the plan for the course and the activities taking place at Beck Center for the Arts. The instructor will be an entry point to first time students, while serving as an advocate for Beck Center to our students and the community.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Theater Education, the arts educator will:

*   possess the ability to engage young students in arts education programs while assisting students in expressing themselves through the theater arts.

*   be responsible, reliable, and professional. And have the ability to work independently.

*   have the ability to fulfill all the responsibilities and duties of a classroom teacher, keeping records/tracking attendance and ability to manage a classroom or studio environment.

*   possess ability to work with a diverse team, including other arts professionals and arts administrators.

*   teach the following classes:

Acting Adventures (Ages 5-7) Tue. 4:30-5:15 PM (1/21/2020-4/28/2020)

This class is designed to introduce children to theater through improvised imagination as each week students collectively conquer a new adventure. Students focus on projecting their voices, listening for directions, developing stage presence, and working together while stretching their imaginations. Parents are welcome to attend the final class to participate in one of these amazing adventures.



Little Folks Theater I (Ages 4-5) Wed. 4:30-5:15 PM (1/22/2020-4/29/2020)

Little Folks introduces our younger students to the magic of theater and is also designed for returning students as new exercises and material are explored each semester. Children engage in lively classroom activities involving creative dramatics, movement, listening skills, and creative art. This class stresses positive self-development and interaction and concludes with an informal presentation for family and friends.



Little Folks Theater II (Ages 6-7) Wed. 5:30-6:15 PM (1/22/2020-4/29/2020)

Continuing from and building upon the work started in Little Folks Theater, students delve deeper in their exploration of creative dramatics, movement, listening skills, and creative art. The class stresses positive self-development and interaction and concludes with an informal presentation for family and friends. You do not need to have taken Little Folks Theater I to enroll in Little Folks Theater II.



Requirements include:

*         Possesses the proficiency (either through education and/or experience) to engage students of all abilities and teach concepts for specific courses taught.

*         A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in the art form is preferred.

*         Bachelor or Master's degree preferred. Individual's working toward their degree in theater education may be considered.

*         Experience Requirement: Extensive knowledge of art form and previous teaching experience (3-5 years) preferred.

*         Employees must pass a background check.
