The Story:  The “Pump Boys” sell high octane on Highway 57 in Grand Ole Opry country and the “Dinettes”, Prudie and Rhetta Cupp, run the Double Cupp diner next door. Together they fashion an evening of country western songs that received unanimous raves on and off-Broadway. With heartbreak and hilarity, they perform on guitars, piano, bass and, yes, kitchen utensils.

Characters: (NOTE: the instrumentation can be switched from character to character based on ability.)

Jim, male, 18+, the host/spokesperson for the band; charming, likable and easy-going. A guy you’d be comfortable listening to all night. Co-owner and operator of the gas station and auto-shop. Excellent singer and rhythm guitar player; principal.

Jackson, male, 18+, a bit of a ladies man. Perhaps he has a bit of a wild streak. Employee of the gas station and auto-shop. Excellent player on guitar(s), multi-instrumentalist a plus dobro, steel guitar, mandolin, etc.; principal.

L.M., male, 18+, unique, marches to his own drummer. Longtime friend and business partner of Jim. Suspicious of the attention he receives from ladies. Co-owner and operator of the gas station and auto-shop. Strong piano player, all styles. Strong vocal lead and harmony. Moves well, tap a plus; principal.

Eddie, male, 18+, quiet, steady. Seen it all. Employee of the gas station and auto-shop. Bass, upright (bowed) and Fender; principal.

Rhetta Cupp, female, 18+, Jim’s on again/off again partner and Prudie’s older sister; no-nonsense; co-owner and operator of the Double Cupp diner. Very strong country-rock vocals. Must move well and tap; principal.

Prudie Cupp, female, 18+, Rhetta’s younger sister; a bit of a dreamer who longs to find a true romance. Co-owner and operator of the Double Cupp diner. Strong country singer. Must move very well and tap; principal.
