CASTING CALL - ULB SHORT FILM - CLEVELAND

Hello all. We are in the pre-production phase of a short film that, if 
we are able to find the right people and do this safely, will be 
shooting at the end of September. Right now we are just trying to have 
our director to look at some reels. Stay well everyone!

Please read the Character Breakdowns below and send your reels to 
lifesearchfilm at gmail.com no later than Saturday 9/5

Subject: Talent Reel - ROLE (e.g. Talent Reel - OLIVIA). In the body of 
your email please include a link to your reel, your current availability 
in between 9/25 - 10/02 and what city you are based out of. YOU DO NOT 
NEED TO BE AVAIL FOR ALL DAYS THIS IS JUST OUR CURRENT PROJECTED SHOOT 
WINDOW.

Headshots and resumes appreciated but not necessary.

ROLES:

Man (Has a look that can go from 26 to 42): He is a man consumed by 
thought. He dwells and ruminates on the decisions from his life often 
getting lost in the imaginary world that his mind has created in an 
effort to “keep him safe”. This role needs someone who can externalize 
his inner thoughts through actions and expressions i.e., the lack of 
confidence, despair, fear, confusion, and most importantly searching.
At the same time he needs to be able to go within himself and vocalize 
those inner thoughts in a way that feels authentic as he speaks to 
himself and to the imaginary world around him. It is a complex role not 
for the feint of heart. This man’s search is taking him to the darkest 
place the mind can go, to continue living or end it to get rid of the 
pain.
Olivia (Has a look that can span from 24 to 39): She is a woman who 
wants to see the best in a person. She is trusting, yet reluctant to 
give the honest answer afraid of the pain it might cause someone she 
loves. She thinks about the future, and makes plans for the next steps 
in life. At some points though she struggles with not being short with 
those around her when they are forgetful or make a mistake. She loves 
very deeply, but her greatest strength is lies in her resiliency to make 
the hard decisions.
Boy (7-10 and a younger version of the Man): A boy that is going through 
loss, pain, and the onset of abandonment. Much of this role is the boy 
searching for safety. He is disappearing into the recesses of his mind 
to find a solace and an escape from the real world. He is hiding from 
the truths taking place in life. There is a moment though where he is 
forced to confront himself, now an adult. It will be important for these 
two roles to find similarities in action and tone.
Mom (36-40): The mother of the Boy. It is a brief non speaking role, but 
holds the key to setting off every subsequent event within the story. We 
are looking for someone who can capture the moment where she is having 
to make the largest decision of her life… to leave her son and husband 
because she is not the mother and wife they need her to be.
Dad (38-44): This is another brief non speaking role for someone who can 
look like the iconic father from the 1960’s. Trim, put together and 
guarding of his emotions, with an almost military demeanor to him.
