*Chagrin Valley Little Theatre takes a "whack" at dark comedy, streaming
THE NORWEGIANS 1/16 & 1/17 *

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio - Chagrin Valley Little Theatre, while remaining closed
due to health restrictions, continues to entertain the community by
web-streaming archival videos of past productions. To kick off 2021, CVLT
will present an online encore of THE NORWEGIANS by C. Denby Swanson on
January 16 & 17, 2021. Viewers will be able to watch the play at any time
they choose on either day via the theatre's website at CVLT.org.

Directed by Yvonne E. Pilarczyk, THE NORWEGIANS is set in the cold of a
Minnesota winter. There we find a Texas transplant ('Olive,' played by
Catherine Remick) and a Kentucky gal ('Betty,' played by Marylee Gotch)
cursing the men who have recently scorned them. Hatching a plan to dispose
of their exes, Betty refers Olive to a pair of bumbling hitmen: 'Gus' (Nick
Grimsic) and 'Tor' (Don Knepper). However, just as the path of love has its
ups and downs, hilarious twists and complications arise in this business of
revenge. Does it lead to romance? Uff da!

Swanson, a female playwright who offers a fresh new voice to contemporary
comedy, lends THE NORWEGIANS a dark northern-American humor familiar to
fans of "Fargo". It premiered in New York in 2013 and had an off-Broadway
run in 2014 before being presented at CVLT's River Street Playhouse in
2015. The New York Times called it "extremely odd and delightful… a
profane, playfully dark comedy that is often hysterical."

The admission password for this one-weekend stream can be purchased by
PayPal or credit card at CVLT.org. A $10 minimum is suggested but greater
amounts are highly encouraged, helping CVLT to meet mortgage, utility, and
other obligations during the difficult suspension of all in-person
programming. Although this production includes adult themes, those seeking
more family-friendly entertainment can look forward to CVLT's planned
encore stream of the musical SISTER ACT this March, as well as a production
of Steven Willensky's new musical ELLIOT AND ME in February.

Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is located at 40 River St. in Chagrin Falls
and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded through individual and corporate
contributions along with a grant from the Ohio Arts Council and by the
citizens of Cuyahoga Country through Cuyahoga County Arts and Culture.
