The Lake Erie College Department of Theatre announces auditions for an original production called STORIES FROM THE PANDEMIC

Our goal is to create an ensemble of actors, storytellers, and backstage artists to create and present true stories from people's struggles over the past year during this ongoing health crises.

Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will strictly follow all state and school guidelines as relate to masks, social distancing, contact tracing and other relevant safety precautions.

Show dates are March 25-28 and will include both live and streamed performances.

Auditions will consist of a brief interview, one contemporary monologue that you should portray as naturalistically as possible, and some movement-based improv. You may audition in person, via live streaming, or by video submission. Live auditions are scheduled for January 26 and 27 at 4-6.

Auditions will be by appointment only. Virtual "Zoom" auditions can be scheduled. Also, we will gladly accept video submissions. To audition, please contact Dr. Jaffe at <jjaffe at lec.edu<mailto:jjaffe at lec.edu>>.

Auditions are open to everyone, students, faculty, staff, and community members. All casting decisions will be made without regards to gender, race, age, sexual orientation, or disability. (Please address all questions or concerns to Dr. Jaffe).

This production will be in the style of "verbatim" theatre, as made famous by Anna Deavere Smith's productions such as Twilight: Los Angeles 1992 and Notes form the Field.

Lake Erie College is located in Painesville. Our address is 391 W. Washignton, Painesville, OH 44077. The Theatre Depart as well as performances are in the Royce Hall for Fine and Performing Arts, with parking on Gillett Street (searchable on all GPS devices).

"She went down to the pet shop and came back with two alligators. We asked her why she'd got two alligators, and she said they were on sale. Buy one at the regular price and you got another one for a penny. An alligator one cent sale. In its own way it made sense." Richard Brautigan, A CONFEDERATE GENERAL FROM BIG SUR
