Logline: A bartender opens up his father’s tavern early so that two old friends can reunite, safely and alone, after years spent outside the neighborhood. Amidst the pandemic, they, in the circuitous manner of bar talk, reflect on days and people passed, their mortality, and love for and uncertainty about their dear ones.

Roles:
ENCI (M, 38-48) — Construction worker and bartender tending to his sickly father
ANA (F, 34-44) — High school teacher and breadwinner for herself, Enci, and their young son
NED (M, 62-76) — Commercial painter and solitary musician, left the neighborhood some decades back
SAM (M, 62-76) — Roofer-turned-restaurant owner, likes to think of himself as alpha to Ned

Among other things, this project is a tribute to the losses that so many are experiencing these days, and the complications of small business and working class politics around the virus.

We will be going about this small production in the safest manner possible, including helping schedule free COVID tests for cast and crew. Shooting in early-mid March. Grad school film, limited pay and plenty of food.

Please send an email to n.strakovsky at gmail.com <mailto:n.strakovsky at gmail.com> with 2-3 headshots, and 2-3 work samples that are at least 30 seconds long each, preferably from films. Play clips welcome, too, though. If it looks like you may be a fit, I’ll email sides for you to record.

Thank you all.
