In 1938 Orson Welles and his team took to the CBS Radio airwaves with a
performance of Howard E. Koch’s “The War of the Worlds” script, based on
the H.G. Wells novel. It became a legendary broadcast for using a ‘faux
newscast’ style that tricked some listeners into thinking aliens had
actually invaded. It also secured Welles’ place as a master of theatre.

CVLT will be staging a radio-style reading of the original script, complete
with ‘live sound effects’, on the River Street Playhouse stage.
