CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE CASTING LOCAL ACTORS FOR NEW HOLIDAY MUSICAL LIGHT IT UP!



Cleveland Play House (CPH) is casting local actors for the 2021 world premiere production of Light It Up!, directed by Christopher Windom. Our casting director for this production will be Judith Bowman.



Both AEA and non-AEA actors will be considered for this production, which will be on a LORT/AEA Contract (Category B).



Auditions are by video submission only, with in-person callbacks scheduled for Friday, September 17. Video submissions should not exceed 3 minutes and should include:

• Sing “Light It Up!” Using the piano accompaniment track.

• Sing up to 32 bars of a contemporary song of your choice

• “Park Rep” monologue.

Rehearsals begin Tuesday, November 2, and will be held in-person at CPH’s rehearsal spaces, located on the fifth floors of the Middough building, at 1901 East 13th Street in downtown Cleveland.



Performances are 7 shows a week from Saturday, November 27 - Wednesday, December 22. Performances will take place in-person at the Allen Theatre, located in the Playhouse Square complex.



CPH is developing a health and safety plan that will be shared with all cast prior to the first rehearsal. Please note that Cleveland Play House is mandating Covid-19 vaccinations for all staff and guest artists working in person during the 2019-20 season.  If accepting an offer, artist affirms that they are already fully vaccinated or that they will be fully vaccinated (currently defined as 2 weeks after the final dose) prior to beginning any work on this production.

• MC – Tenor. Dynamic TV show host type, thrilling voice. Celebrity Reference: Billy Porter / Bruno Mars.
 • Homeless Advocate / Mary – Soprano. Dynamic, nimble contemporary voice. Celebrity Reference: Mariah Carey.
 • Soldier’s Wife / Fem Trio 3 - Alto. Soulful voice, mature. Celebrity Reference: Angie Stone.
• Recording Artist / Soldier / Game Show Host - Tenor. Flashy, strong pop-rocker type voice. Celebrity Reference: Justin Timberlake.
• TV Announcer / Parks Rep. / Santa / Joseph - Tenor. Soulful voice, mature. Celebrity reference: Ruben Studdard.
