Title:  Technical Director

Classification:  Contracted – 1099 Reportable

Reports to:  Board of Directors and Their Designees

Salary: Contracted Per Show

 

The Technical Director is one of the many faces of the Cassidy Theatre, and is the primary point of contact and oversight for all technical aspects related to a production or special event produced by Cassidy Theatre Inc.  The Technical Director primarily works independently, but also in conjunction with the Cassidy Theatre Board of Directors and production teams to execute the overall strategy and vision for the event and for our organization.

Position Summary
 | 
The Technical Director performs a variety of functions in support of the mainstage and youth theater programs.  They are a member of a diverse team who provides a welcoming and helpful experience on behalf of the organization.  Responsibilities include:

·       Operate and maintain the technical assets of the theater including supervision of the use of lighting, sound and communications equipment as well as the maintenance of stage facilities 

·       In consultation with production teams, consults to determine the necessary technical support required to produce a specific event in advance of production dates

·       Works in consultation with production teams to design sets within production budget parameters

·       Manages and assists with set and stage construction & tear down

·       Maintains safety and cleanliness of stage and back stage areas. 

·       Monitors the condition of equipment, arranges for repair/replacement within budgetary constraints.  Performs maintenance on equipment.

·       Attends rehearsals as necessary (including tech week) to supervise and assist in the technical aspect of mounting the show or special event.

Qualifications
 | 
Education:  A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

 

Experience:  Previous technical, mechanical, construction and electrical experience required.

 

Skills:  Strong verbal and written communications skills, supervisory skills and interpersonal skills are required.  Working knowledge of techniques, methods and procedures of theatre, dance and music productions and presentations including stage, set, sound and lighting design is preferred.  Must be able to develop and maintain string working relationships with vendors, co-workers, board of directors and others.  Must be able to lift heavy objects.
