Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) produces groundbreaking performances and life-changing educational programs to raise consciousness and nurture compassion. CPT seeks a CAN Academy Intern interested in joining its hard-working team with the ambitious goals of growing the organization and changing the community.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The CAN Academy Intern works closely with and reports directly to the CAN Academy Lead Teaching Artist and Site Coordinator during summer programming. This position is a seasonal position.

The successful candidate will be collaborative, supportive of the CAN Academy Lead Teachers, flexible, eager to learn, excited to work with young artists, high energy and a positive attitude, and performance experience in classroom settings. Candidates must have the creativity and heart to create warm, exciting, empowering community experiences for our programs’ participants and families.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The CAN Academy Intern will assist in the coordination and general support for CAN Academy’s 2022 summer programming.

Duties will include:
   
   
   - Mentoring students through scene creation and production process
   - Arranging snacks for students
   - Prepping and coordinating materials needed for the day
   - Modeling positively contributing participation in the room

Strong organizational skills and an interest in working with youth ages 7-14 are imperative, along with a commitment to promoting anti-racism and diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.

CPT’S EDUCATION PROGRAM:

Cleveland Act Now (CAN) Academy  CAN Academy is a free performing arts program for younger teens and youth from Cleveland and surrounding neighborhoods, held on-site at Cleveland Public Theatre. Young artists engage in rigorous (and fun!) theatre training, learning acting fundamentals, script analysis, storytelling techniques, and play creation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Compensation:           $14/hr.

Anticipated Start:        June 6, 2022

Ideal End Date:           August 5, 2022

Hours:                         Mondays-Thursdays from 12 pm to 5:30 pm

                                     Friday, July 2nd and Friday, August 5th from 11:30 am to 6:30 pm
