ASSOCIATEDIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Classification:Full time salary position

Termof Employment: Flexible start date

Reportsto: Director of Production

Salaryrange:  $47,250 - $54,500

 

ClevelandPlay House (CPH) is seeking an AssociateDirector of Production (ADoP) to join the production team. This positionworks in close partnership with the Director of Production (DoP)to share production management of the work on our main stages, New GroundTheatre Festival, Education, the CWRU/CPH MFA program productions and specialevents.  This position also works closelywith all Production, Artistic staff and guest artists.

 

Thisis a growth position. The work isrooted in core job responsibilities. In a collaborativepartnership with the Director of Production the job tasks and leadershipwill expand over time. The ADoP work calls for administrative, facility andsupply management and team leadership.

 

Core beginning responsibilitiesinclude:

·       Cultivatea joyful, collaborative, inclusive,and anti-racist CPH workplace by building culturally competent and generativerelationships among staff, and immediately addressing instances of microaggressive or harmful language or behavior

·       Coordinate production expensetracking and management

·       Manage weekly payroll submissionfor all employees in the production department

·       Administrative support to Supervisors in their staff onboarding,training and mentoring

·       Participate in team-approach hiringprocess for all production staff

·       Participate in weekly departmental equity, diversity, access andinclusion learning conversations

·       Foster reuse, reduce, recycle and safe disposal of material

·       Administrativesupport in production staff goal setting, self-evaluation and review process

·       Maintain supplies for stage management

·       Coordinate facility projects in the theatre complexand Middough building spaces

·       Support Production Office Assistant’s leadership asthey manage Shoreway Production Center 

·       Support Covid-19 Resource Plan within production spaces andprocess

·       Maintain a safe and healthy work environment

 

Developing and expanding jobresponsibilities shared with the Directorof Production may include:

·       Collaborate in season planning, including script and designerselection

·       SuperviseProduction staff in day-to-day management and personnel issues

·       Onboard, train and mentor stagemanagement staff

·       Collaborate in policy setting

·       Partner with DoP to production-leadprogramming to foster joy, artistry and teamwork. This includes responsibly guiding coordination forall aspects of the production process through providing schedules,budgets, communication, and upholding accessibility, cultural competencyand specificity of the design.

 

Desired experience and skills include:

·       Abilityto establish and maintain communication in person, via email, phone, Zoom andother means clearly, accurately and identify and share key information withthose who need it

·       Abilityto work independently and take initiative to resolve multi-step challenges

·       Competencyin Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs, and ability to learn newplatforms such as Dropbox and Ahola (payroll system)

·       Abilityto analyze scripts, designs, technical drawings and other information tosummarize, organize and apply to planning and budgeting

·       Abilityto estimate materials costs and develop and adhere to schedules

·       Abilityto become familiar with IATSE, USA, AEA and other union agreements

·       Experiencein initiatives relating to accessibility, racial equity and social responsibility

·       Abilityto lead and manage a team for project-based work with a positive outlook

·       Twoyears prior experience in a theatre production capacity desired

 

Work Schedule: 

M-F 8am-4:30pm; shared attendance withDoP for tech and preview performances includes some evenings and weekends. Someremote work and flextime possible.
