Chagrin Arts Announces the Return of Callisto Quartet

Chagrin Falls, OH-   On Friday July 15, 2022 at 7 pm, Callisto Quartet
returns to Chagrin Arts for the fourth year for an evening of incomparable
chamber music. Presented in partnership with The City of Solon, the concert
will take place at Solon Center for the Arts, located at 6315 SOM Center
Road, Solon OH 44139. Members of the Quartet are Cameron Daly, violin;
Gregory Lewis, violin; Eva Kennedy, viola and Hannah Moses, cello. The
Quartet will be playing the Haydn Quartet op.76 no 4, Debussy String
Quartet in G Minor and Mendelssohn Quartet op, 13. Tickets are $20 for
Adults and $10 for Seniors and Students and are available at
www.chagrinarts.org or by calling 440-247-9700. The concert is presented
with the generous support of Ohio Arts Council and Cuyahoga Arts and
Culture. Since Its formation in 2016, the Quartet has garnered top prizes
in every major international chamber music competition and has been hailed
by audiences across North America and Europe. Grand prize winners of the
2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize Winners
of the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Callisto
Quartet has also taken home prizes from the Bordeaux (2019), Melbourne
(2018), and Wigmore Hall (2018) competitions. The quartet has formerly held
residencies at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and the Escuela
Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, Spain, and from 2020-2022 was the
Ernst Stiefel Quartet in Residence at Caramoor Center for Music and Arts.
The Quartet has performed at many renowned chamber music festivals such as
the La Jolla Music Society Summerfest, the Great Lakes Chamber Music
Festival, the Emilia Romagna Festival, and the Norfolk Chamber Music
Festival in 2018, at the invitation of Gerhard Schulz, they attended the
Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar. As a result of their prize
from the 2018 Wigmore Hall Competition, the Quartet received an invitation
to the Jeunesses Musicales International Chamber Music Campus in
Weikersheim, Germany. The Quartet maintains an active touring and
performing schedule including notable debuts on the Schneider Concert
Series, the Ravinia Festival, and the Heidelberg String Quartet Festival.
They were also featured in Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in July 2019 as
Grand Prize winners of the 4th Manhattan International Music Competition
Chamber Music Division. The quartet has been honored to collaborate with
legendary artists, including cellist David Geringas at the Cleveland Cello
Society’s 20th anniversary concert and clarinetist Franklin Cohen on the
ChamberFest Cleveland Series. Over the 2018-2019 seasons at the Great Lakes
Chamber Music Festival, they have collaborated with musicians such as Paul
Watkins, Lawrence Power, Gilles Vonsattel, and John Novacek. In 2021, the
quartet recorded Schubert’s Cello Quintet with Desmond Hoebig for the 2021
Banff International String Quartet Festival. The Callisto Quartet is
committed to continually broadening their musical horizons by drawing
inspiration from a plethora of mentors and musical approaches. They are
also dedicated educators and believe in the importance of mentoring
students and connecting with audiences in a meaningful way. The quartet
most recently developed a unique chamber music curriculum entitled “Chamber
Music Deconstructed: a Comprehensive Curriculum developed by the Callisto
Quartet,” which they implemented during their 2021-22 teaching residency at
the Fine Arts Center in Greenville, SC, and are currently bringing to other
schools across the United States.
