through the 16th by appointment. Other dates or virtual audition options
are available. Please reach out to rtwardzik at talespinnercle.prg to schedule
or submit video auditions.

Hook and Smee will be directed by Ren Twardzik, and will run March 11th to
the 26th, with the potential for 1-2 matinee performances on Fridays as the
schedules of the actors allow.

Talespinner Children's Theatre is committed to not only providing sensory
friendly/relaxed performances for our audience members, but also to being a
company that is intentional about the ways in which we engage our
performers, including providing accommodations within the rehearsal
process.

Please review the following details before scheduling an audition. All
roles are available.

THE PLAY
(From local Cleveland playwright, T Paul Lowry) In honor of ten years of
shows, welcome back a popular TCT show. Captain Hook is a name to send
delightful shivers down the spine of anyone who knows the tale of Peter
Pan, and Tinkerbell. But have you ever wondered just how Hook came to Never
Never Land with his merry band of buccaneers? This is the story of how Hook
met Smee and came to be the scourge of “the Land of Pan.” All your
favorite characters are here but get ready for some giddy surprises that
will make you clap your hands with glee.

Hook and Smee by T Paul Lowry is a play with some sea shanties. Comfort
with singing and experience with puppetry is a plus.

Interested performers will receive a 5-min audition time slot and should
prepare a two-minute retelling of their favorite children's book. Actors
should also provide their resume (and a headshot if desired). Actors must
be available for all weekend performances and should be prepared to discuss
the possibility of Friday matinees.

ROLES
7 dynamic, energetic actors comfortable with multiple roles. While
description of a few roles may fall on the gender binary, all performers of
any gender identity may audition for any role. For example, Captain John,
while described as a former lost boy, may be played by any gender
identification.

The character of Smee is Neurodivergent. As such, actors who identify as
neurodivergent (including but not limited to ADHD, autism, sensory
processing disorder etc) specifically are encouraged to audition.

Actors of varying body types and abilities are encouraged to audition.
Actors will play multiple parts throughout the show.

Actors must possess strong movement skills, and ability to play various
ages.

COMPENSATION:
All actors will be paid $400 for the production.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES:
TCT also has opportunities for a movement director, props and puppet
designer, carpenter etc. Feel free to connect Ren (
rtwardzik at talespinnercle.org) for more information on those opportunities.
