French Creek Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for…
“Misery”
by William Goldman | Based on the novel by Stephen King
Directed by Chris Bizub

Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it, and it does.

  * Paul Sheldon: (M, can play 40s - 50s) A best-selling author made famous by the “Misery Chastain” novels, a series Victorian romance books. He has recently completed a manuscript for a new novel that he considers a more artistically fulfilling work than his bread and butter “Misery” novels. On the same day, he experiences a severe car accident that leaves him immobile and near death due to catastrophic leg injuries. When he meets his “dangerously crazy” number-one fan Anne Wilkes, Paul must use every tool in his mental arsenal to survive his predicament.
