[NEohioPAL] Summer Theater Education Instructor and Assistant Positions with Beck Center for the Arts

Beck Center for the Arts seeks a talented and engaging arts education instructor(s) to join our theater education faculty. In this role, the instructor will lead theater education classes while promoting and nurturing the education of students by planning and implementing effective and developmentally appropriate classroom experiences; providing a safe environment conducive to learning; keeping students informed as to the plan for the course and the activities taking place at Beck Center for the Arts. The instructor will be an entry point to first time students, while serving as an advocate for Beck Center to our students and the community.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Theater Education, the arts educator will:
•     possess the ability to engage students of various age ranges in arts education programs while assisting students in expressing themselves through the theater arts.
•     be responsible, reliable, and professional. And have the ability to work independently.
•     have the ability to fulfill all the responsibilities and duties of a classroom teacher, keeping records/tracking attendance and ability to manage a classroom or studio environment.
•     possess ability to work with a diverse team, including other arts professionals and arts administrators.
•     Teach any or all of the following classes/camps:

*Acting Instructor
Junior Theater Camp (Ages 7-12) Our Junior Theater Camp is designed for all students, whether or not they have prior performance experience. Campers are broken into smaller groups based on age and work with theater professionals, learning about acting, singing, and dancing while rehearsing their own original show. Campers present this show - featuring acting scenes and musical numbers - live for family and friends.
Session 1 June 12-June 30     No camp June 19.        Session 2 July 24-August 11

*Camp Assistant

Improv Camp: (Ages 13-19) Mon-Fri; 5:30-8:30 PM; 6/12-6/23
Headed by a founding member of "Something Dada,” Russ Stich, this camp is great for both new students of improv as well as veteran performers. Students explore the basic concepts of improvisational theater with an emphasis on the theatrical, and audience interaction aspects. This two-week workshop focuses on creating a completely improvised performance based on suggestions from a live audience. It's a guaranteed comedy blast! Live performances will take place June 23 & 24 at 7:30 PM. No camp June 19.

Acting Camp: (Ages 13-19) Mon-Fri; 1:00-5:00 PM; 7/3-7/21
This fun and lively theater camp, headed by Russ Stich, is for students interested in developing their performance skills. Focusing primarily on the comedic, students sharpen their stage abilities while rehearsing together as an ensemble to create a production that is sure to entertain. Come join us and laugh as you learn! Live in-person performances are July 21 & 22 at 7:30 PM. No camp July 4.

Requirements include:
•     Possesses the proficiency (either through education and/or experience) to engage students of all abilities and teach concepts for specific courses taught.
•     A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in the art form is preferred.
•     Bachelor or Master’s degree preferred. Individual’s working toward their degree in theater education may be considered.
•     Experience Requirement: Extensive knowledge of art form and previous teaching experience (3-5 years) preferred.
•     Employees must pass a background check.
