_The 39 Steps_
Adapted by Patrick Barlow, From a Novel by John Buchan
Directed by Robert Gibb

Auditions: Monday, June 26 and Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 7 pm

Show Dates:  September 15 - October 8, 2023 on Thursday, Friday and 
Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm

Story:  Combine a film masterpiece by Alfred Hitchcock with a juicy spy 
novel and add a large splash of zany, over-the-top theatrics. The 
result? A fast-paced whodunit with four versatile actors portraying more 
than 50 roles!

London, 1935. The rather dull Richard Hannay encounters a woman who 
claims to be a spy. When she is suddenly murdered, Richard finds himself 
the focus of a nationwide manhunt led by a mysterious organization 
called "The 39 Steps."

Characters: All the roles in the play are performed by four actors.

One plays Richard Hannay: this role has been cast.

One female plays the three women in the play: Annabella Schmidt, an 
exotic German secret agent; Pamela, a beautiful English woman; and 
Margaret, a Scottish farmer's young wife.

And two "clowns" play every other character, including heroes, villains, 
men, women, children, and even the occasional inanimate object.

bring a resume and headshot, if available. If you don't have a headshot, 
Clague will take one at auditions. Please complete our online Audition 
Form [2].   When completed, please print and bring with you to the 
audition.  For the safety of all involved, those wishing to audition 
must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Open auditions will be cold readings from the script.  No appointment is 
necessary.  Auditions will be held at Clague Playhouse.  A limited 
number of perusal scripts are available at the Clague Playhouse Box 
Office, Wednesday - Saturday 1:00-6:00pm, for a $10 deposit through June 
15, 2023.
