Hello all!
This is my first post as Development Director at Writers in Residence an organization that teaches creative writing to youth who are incarcerated to empower their voices and assist in their reentry into society. We are thrilled to have two of our young poets featured in their next Broadsides & Ephemera Event on Thursday, September 14th at 7:00 pm. Loganberry Books is located at 13015 Larchmere Blvd in Shaker Heights.
The readers are: G
G is 16 years old. He lives and goes to school in Wadsworth, Ohio. Though he has had a lot of struggles in his life, he is on the upswing. G started using his voice in Writers in Residence Creative Writing Workshops, and he has kept exploring the written word since getting out of juvenile detention.
Jonathan
Jonathan is 21 years old and has been writing for years. He worked with Writers in Residence during his time in the Ohio Department of Youth Services. During his time as a resident in WIR's Creative Writing Workshops, Jonathan recognized the strength in his writing ability and has continued to write into young adulthood.
The event is free, but space is limited, so reserve your spot today here. WE'll have refreshments, and through the generous support of Loganberry Books, a portion of all sales not just that evening but all through September.
The event is free to attend so come hear what we are all about. Register here.
Through the generous support of Loganberry Books, a portion of all sales during the month of September will be donated to us!
Thanks for reading!Margaret
