ROALD DAHL’S WILLY WONKA JR.

 

Students to Present Magical Musical 
Based on the Award-Winning Book 
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl on November 17th at 7pm, November 18th @ 3 and 7pm and November 19th @3pm



 

Academy for Dramatic Arts students will transport OlmstedFalls to a “world of pure imagination” with their production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR., a musical based onRoald Dahl’s timeless children’s book Charlieand the Chocolate Factory, on November 17th- November 19th.



In Roald Dahl’s WillyWonka JR., a world-famous reclusive candy man named Willy Wonka announcesthat he will offer the tour of the lifetime through his secret chocolatefactory to five children who find a golden ticket in one of his world-famouscandy bars. One ticket-holder will also win a lifetime supply of chocolate. Againstall odds, an impoverished but sweet-natured boy named Charlie Bucket wins agolden ticket. He and his fellow tour members — the spoiled-rotten Veruca Salt,gluttonous Augustus Gloop, gum-chewing Violet Beauregarde and television junkieMike Teavee — spend a day traveling with the mysterious and marvelous WillyWonka and his crew of Oompa Loompas through the fantastical factory. Thechildren encounter marvelous sights and tastes along the way, including giantnut-selecting squirrels, fizzy lifting drinks, Everlasting Gobstoppers, and achocolate river. But each stop proves to be a test, as only one can go on towin the Wonka prize.

 Roald Dahl’s WillyWonka JR. is adapted for the stage by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy Allen McDonald.The show features lyrics and music by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley,including beloved songs “The Candy Man,” “I Want It Now!”, and “PureImagination” from the classic film WillyWonka and the Chocolate Factory. 


North Olmsted will have its own tour of Willy Wonka’s secret factory when Academyfor Dramatic Arts presents Roald Dahl’sWilly Wonka JR. on November 17th- 19th at Christ UnitedMethodist Church (23114 West Avenue OlmstedFalls, OH 44138).
