 Carnival of Animals

Now announcing auditions for beginning-advanced dancers for a new contemporary ballet.
Choreographers Julie Schullo, Elyse Morckel and Brian Murphy will be creating a brand-new piece to premier throughout Northeast Ohio!

Where: Auditions will take place in studio 194 at Guzzetta Hall (228 E. Buchtel Ave. Akron, Ohio) at The University of Akron.


Attire: Dancers should wear either a black leotard and pink/skin-tone tights or a form fitting black shirt and black leggings.

When: November 18th 12:30 PM warm-ups 1-2:30 PM auditions

Who: Open to all beginning-advanced dancers.  The piece will combine elements of classical ballet and pointe, with contemporary ballet. Dancers cast in the ballet must enroll in one dance class at The Dance Institute.  Dancers cast as principals or as a soloist, will be asked to join the Dance Institute Dance Company for the Spring Semester.

Rehearsal schedule: Rehearsals will take place at Guzzetta Hall on campus at The University of Akron on Saturdays, from 9-12 PM for principal and soloist and Wednesdays, from 4:30-6:00 PM for other dancers.  Rehearsals begin January 10th, 2024

Performance Schedule: Performances are scheduled for April 18th at The Akron Art Museum, May 17th and 18th at The University of Akron and June 24th at The Akron Zoo
