Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO), a mostly volunteer organization with the mission of making music, arts and culture accessible to all, continues to bring quality concerts and arts events to locations all around Medina County. December brings three holiday themed concerts to several area venues. These events are free and open to the public. Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Medina County District Library present Akron-based bassoonist Cynthia Cioffari and the University of Akron BassoonaRoos in a lively performance of holiday favorites, including selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, as well as other jazz-inspired arrangements.

Duane Carlson in Home for the Holidays

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library close out the 2023 Live at the Library concert series with Akron-based pianist Duane Carlson. He’ll be celebrating the most wonderful time of the year by playing holiday themed music.

Duane Carlson is an accomplished pianist born in Akron, Ohio. He attended Wesleyan University where he played lead trumpet in the University orchestra. He later graduated from the U.S. Navy School of Music in Virginia, after which he spent a year touring Europe playing the trumpet in one of the U.S. Navy dance bands. After the Navy, Duane played piano with a local gospel group for nine years. He currently plays easy-listening music at upscale restaurants, country clubs, and retirement communities. He has recorded two albums of his favorite standards and Christmas tunes.

Dane Vannatter & Eric Everett Jazz: An Evening of Holiday Classics

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents a holiday concert with the township of Sullivan. Dane Vannatter is the recipient of two Bistro Awards from BackStage in New York for Outstanding Vocalist, and has been acclaimed by reviewers at The New York Post, The Boston Globe and BackStage for a style that “blends facets of cabaret and jazz with intelligence and care.”  Eric Everett has four decades of drumming experience, and has performed at Nighttown, Bop Stop, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and more. Together with guitarist Joseph Rangel and Jeff Slater on bass, they will present a dazzling concert of jazz classics and holiday fare.
