AUDITION NOTICE FOR AKRON CIVIC THEATRE’S

MILLENNIAL THEATRE PROJECT

Looking for actors 18 years of age (must be out of high school) or older.

Non-Union. Unpaid.

Casting for: The World Premiere of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Beautiful &
Damned” An adaptation written and directed by Abbey Marshall.

AUDITION LOCATION: Akron Civic Theatre’s Knight Stage - 182 S. Main St.,
Akron, OH 44308

AUDITION DATES: Tuesday, January 23rd  from 6 PM -9 PM.

CALL BACKS: Wednesday, January 24th, from 6 PM – 9 PM

SHOW INFORMATION: F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Beautiful and Damned,” adapted
by Abbey Marshall, follows 25-year-old Anthony Patch, the unambitious and
braggadocious presumptive heir to his wealthy grandfather’s fortune. He and
his wife, Gloria, enjoy the spoils of youth and beauty in American cafe
society during World War I, until their reckless pursuit of happiness
ultimately ruins them.



CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:



ANTHONY PATCH: 20s, male. A Harvard alumnus and heir to his grandfather's
large fortune. He is unambitious and unmotivated, but believes he is
superior to those around him and destined for greatness.

GLORIA GILBERT: 20s, female. A vain society girl who values beauty over all
else.

ADAM "CROSS" PATCH: 60s/70s, male. Anthony's wealthy grandfather who values
hard work.

RICHARD "DICK" CARAMEL: 20s, male. Anthony's Harvard friend. A writer,
obsessively dedicated to his craft.

JOSEPH BLOECKMAN: 30s/40s, male. A sure-of-himself Hollywood producer who
courts Gloria.

MAURY NOBLE: 20s, male. Anthony's Harvard friend. Similar to Anthony, he
doesn't take much seriously and loves debauchery.

DOROTHY RAYCROFT/ensemble: Late teens/early 20s, female. A pretty, simple
country girl.

MRS. GILBERT/ensemble: 40s/50s, female. Gloria's excitable mother.

MR. GILBERT/ensemble: 40s/50s, male. Gloria's disproving father.

MURIEL KANE/ensemble: Gloria's friend.

Other ensemble members will be cast to play additional roles.

Performances: March 22nd, 23rd, and 24th 2024.

WHAT TO PREPARE: Two, one-minute contrasting monologues.
