OUTSIDE CIRCLE THEATER PROJECT SPONSORS PLAYWRITING CONTEST
To celebrate World Theater Day, March 27th, the Outside Circle Theater Project (OCTP) announces its second annual playwriting contest. With this contest, OCTP kicks off the second staging of one original piece per year. The winning submission will receive a $250.00 cash prize and the group will produce and stage the winning play in March of 2025. The writing contest runs from March 27th through April 27th . Entry is free and open to the public. Contact outsidecircletheaterproject at gmail.com or text 440-258-0704 for contest rules and guidelines.
Last years’ winning play, The Downside, by Molly McFadden recently opened to sold out crowds. OCTP believes community theater goals should assist trending towards rather than away from, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Project coordinators endeavor to educate and generate discussions about history, social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion through producing live theater works that reflect the diverse and underrepresented voices of the Lorain County community. While OCTP seeks to give local women and girls, a forum to express themselves in their own words in a safe, inclusive space, participation in any aspect of OCTP is open to all ages, ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds, genders, and nationality identities.
OCTP is hosted by crowdfunding site IOBY (In Our Back Yard). Learn more about the Outside Circle Theater Project on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok.
