Chagrin Valley Little Theatre invites you to THE PROM this summer
*Subheading:* CVLT's summer musical runs July 19 - August 10 to close the
94th Season
CHAGRIN FALLS, OH — You’ve got a date for the joyous hit that the New York
Times declared “makes you believe in musical comedy again!” Chagrin Valley
Little Theatre’s production of THE PROM wraps up the organization’s 94th
Season with performances on weekends July 19 – Aug. 10, 2024, with Friday &
Saturday shows at 7:30 PM and 2 PM curtain on Sundays 7/28 & Aug. 4.
Tickets are $21 with discounted admission for seniors, students, military,
and groups.
THE PROM is a musical comedy featuring a book by Tony Award® winner Bob
Martin ( *Elf the Musical*, *The Drowsy Chaperone*) and Tony Award® nominee
Chad Beguelin ( *Aladdin*), music by Tony Award® nominee Matthew Sklar ( *Elf
the Musical*) and lyrics by Tony Award® nominee Chad Beguelin.
Four faded Broadway stars, desperate to reignite their dwindling careers,
embark on an unexpected journey to Indiana. Their mission is to aid a high
school student whose desire to bring her girlfriend to the prom has been
thwarted by the school's conservative PTA. However, the actors’
well-intentioned but chaotic attempts at activism only exacerbate the
situation, forcing both the Broadway divas and small-town locals to
confront their differences head-on. Amidst the chaos, they discover shared
perspectives that transcend their disparities, learning the true essence of
community. With its heartwarming message, paired with electrifying dance
numbers and soaring vocals, THE PROM promises to lift your spirits and set
your heart aflutter.
THE PROM, which took Broadway by storm and lit up the small screen in the
2020 Netflix adaptation starring Meryl Streep, is directed by CVLT veteran
Pam LaForce, with music director David W. Coxe, and choreographer Alex
Petsche. Jen Monfort and Drusilla Mango are in charge of stage management,
with Tom Jones producing and costumes by Kristine Barrett.
CVLT's production boasts an exceptional 25-member cast. At the forefront,
Brooke Hamilton takes on the pivotal role of 'Emma', the high school
student at the heart of the story. Portraying her love interest, 'Alyssa',
is the talented Maela Mazzone. The quartet of fading Broadway stars is
brought to life by Nina Takacs as 'Deedee', Don Knepper as 'Barry',
Jennifer Justice as 'Angie', and Jordon Matthew as 'Trent', each delivering
standout performances. Rounding out the principal cast are Eric Oswald as
'Mr. Hawkins', Neil Rubin as 'Sheldon', and Elisabeth Roter as 'Mrs.
Greene'. Supporting roles include Kelly Scott as 'Shelby', Jessie Pollak as
'Kaylee', Patrick Jalbert as 'Nick', and Jonathon Clarke as 'Kevin'. The
ensemble features Giovanni Conti, Leigh Garrett, Erin Heisey, Red Mango,
Rachel Marzullo, Gina Marzullo, Quinn Montgomery, Atlas Nielsen, Emma
Pasciak, Mary Reid, Willie Rose, and Isabel Siegel.
Tickets for THE PROM are available 24/7 at the CVLT.org website. For ticket
inquiries and reservations, please contact the Chagrin Valley Little
Theatre Box Office at (440) 247-8955 or via email at BoxOffice at CVLT.org.
Phone sales are available from 1-6 PM, Tuesday through Friday, with the box
office opening two hours before all performances. Due to limited parking
and a major construction project in Chagrin Falls, early reservations and
early arrival are highly recommended. CVLT is located at 40 River Street in
historic Chagrin Falls Village.
