TEEN DEBATER: This role is for female-identifying or non-binary individual between the ages of 14-19. Candidates should identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or as a Person of Color. The DEBATER appears in Act Two only. Must be a very good debater, passionate, convincing, and articulate. Looking for an individual with experience in theatre performance, on speech and debate teams, or maybe even mock trial. Individual must be willing to share a bit of their own life and history onstage in front of a live audience. This role appears in the second part of the play and performs a scripted debate with the lead character, Heidi, on the topic “Should We Abolish the United States Constitution?” The DEBATER must be able to present her case confidently. Looking for someone who is engaging, dynamic, smart, passionate, and witty.

Note: This is a paid opportunity. Two young women will be cast in this role and will rotate performances.

Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 and will take place at Cleveland Play House’s administrative building, located at 1901 E. 13th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44114. (Rehearsals will take place on select weekdays during afterschool hours and on weekends, as necessary.) Tech week rehearsals, starting on October 8th, will typically run until 10:00 PM.
Performances run October 12 through November 3, 2024 and will take place at the Outcalt Theatre, located in the heart of Playhouse Square. (Performances are Tuesday thru Saturday evenings; Saturday and Sunday afternoons; and there are two morning matinees for school groups.)
