"Venus in Fur" by David Ives is a two-person play that explores power dynamics, gender roles, and the line between reality and fiction. It follows Thomas, a playwright and director who is frustrated by the lack of suitable actresses for his adaptation of a 19th-century novel, "Venus in Furs." When Vanda, a seemingly unprepared and brash actress, arrives late for an audition, she surprises Thomas with her uncanny understanding of the character and the text. As they engage in a provocative and intense audition, the roles blur between actor and director, and reality intertwines with the play's script, leading to a compelling examination of dominance, submission, and the nature of desire.
TMPAC is a registered 501c3 non-profit entity.
