Join us for TOOLS OF THE TEXT: Embracing Process Through Text Analysis,
which will be offered Saturday, August 17th from 10AM-1PM at Weathervane
Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane Lane, Akron, OH 44313!

We've offered a number of physical acting process workshops so far and now
we'd like to offer insight on how we approach the texts we choose and how
that lays the groundwork for our psycho-physical explorations in rehearsal.
Actors, directors, designers, and producers all participate in this work;
for this reason, *we welcome not just actors and performers, but directors,
producers, and designers *to the workshop.
Some ideas we'll be covering in detail:

   - *Beauty Statement *- our governing document that helps unify the tone
and mission of every production for director, cast, and designers
   - *Chekhov's Laws of Composition* - these help organize, balance, and
structure the work and exploration of a play
   - *A Rhythmic Wave* - how to harness the intrinsic rhythm of the play to
effectively let the composition work for you and steward the audience's
   experience of the play
   - *Action Analysis* - through this work, scenes are grounded in action
and characters are given a roadmap for how to fully flesh out their arcs
while remaining faithful to the unified mission of the play

If you've ever looked at a script or a side and felt stumped - join us!
If you've ever been in a rehearsal or a production meeting and immediately
felt every inspiration totally disappear OR if you've been overwhelmed by
all of the options and possibilities - join us!
If you just like theatre and want to appreciate more of the work that goes
into a theatrical text - join us!

In order to get everyone on the same page for discussion, we're going to
utilize *The Women of Lockerbie* by Deborah Brevoort to dive into this
work. Upon securing your spot, we will send you a digital copy of the play
as well as some other details about the class. We ask that you please read
the script before attending the workshop (don't worry, it's a
short script).

We will also be asking for a $5 deposit to hold your slot *which will be
refunded *to you on the day of the workshop upon your attendance. It is a
passion of ours to host free and accessible workshops for the NE Ohio
community; in order to do that to the best of our capacities, it's
imperative that we make use of as many slots as we're able to and deter
last minute cancellations.

We're super excited to share this part of our process and work. We hope
you'll be able to join us. Please e-mail *mike.glavan at gmail.com
<mike.glavan at gmail.com>* to reserve your spot and await more details in a
follow-up e-mail.
