SYNOPSIS
Spider’s Web is a parody of the detective thriller that weaves suspense and humor as only Agatha Christie can. When Clarissa, an adventurous spinner of tales, discovers that a murder has taken place in her drawing room, she learns that the drama of real life is more complicated than she imagined. To protect her family, she enlists the help of her trusted friends to cover the crime. Hilarity ensues when they are interrupted by the wry detective, Inspector Lord. Will they crack the case before the next victim is claimed? With a unique blend of tension, humor and heart, this “who-done-it” is sure to leave audiences laughing and guessing until the very end.
AVAILABLE CHARACTERS
CLARISSA HAILSHAM-BROWN – a lively, spirited woman married to Henry Hailsham-Brown. Despite a fanciful imagination, her fierce love for her husband and stepdaughter grounds her and drives her through this story. Even when the stakes are high, she can leap into the role of a charming hostess in an instant.
*This character is a fantastic principal role that calls for an advanced, mature high school actress who is ready to lead a company of actors.*
MILDRED PEAKE – a jolly gardener who loves life, nature and (most) people. She delights in unexpected situations (whether it’s socially appropriate or not). She keeps some secrets poorly, and others very well.
PIPPA HAILSHAM-BROWN – a precocious student who is just discovering her voice. She is curious, feisty, playful, and hungry.
All three characters are challenging and delightful roles to play!
Please feel free to email director Will Sanborn at wsanborn at us.edu<mailto:wsanborn at us.edu> with any questions.
We hope to see you at auditions this week!
