Convergence-continuum announces auditions for the 14th annual NEOMFA
Playwrights Festival!

Auditions to be held at the theatre located at

2438 Scranton Rd. Cleveland, Ohio 44113

The Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts (NEOMFA) is a unique graduate
program that offers a terminal degree in Creative Writing. Each year,
convergence-continuum hosts a 2-weekend festival featuring works by
students of the program. Each show is given a full production for the
playwright to experience their work on stage. Rehearsals will start the
first week of January. Those who have participated in the past can testify
that the festival is an intensive, busy and thoroughly fun experience!
Shows can range from 10-minute shorts to full length.

This season will feature 1 full length play:

*Executing Eve by Eric Mansfield*



*Synopsis*: It’s 2034 and Governor Kaiser has returned Ohio to town square
hangings as part of his new speedy-and-public execution policy for
convicted killers given death sentences. That means a midnight death in the
Medina town square is  just hours away for Eve, who was found guilty of
poisoning the judge she believes is responsible for her sister’s death
after he rejected pleas from Eve and doctors hoping to intervene during a
high-risk pregnancy. With crowds gathering outside the jail and little hope
of an11th hour reprieve from the U.S. Supreme Court, Eve plays  the one
card she has up her sleeve in hopes of saving her life while also using
what may be her final hours alive to face the choices that have made her
the face of futuristic American justice.



*Cast*

·       Eve - W/F. Mid-30's. Convicted killer who has been wasting away in
the same jail cell for the last 30 days waiting to be hanged in the town
square.

·       Agatha - B/F. Public defender who has taken up Eve's case from the
moment she was arrested. She is tired from working 24/7 hoping to find a
reprieve to save Eve's life.

·       Kaya - W/F Mid-30's. Eve's younger sister. The two share the same
biological parents and were adopted together as toddlers. Outspoken and
demonstrative, Kaya possesses a sharp tongue and quick temper. She'd blow
up the jail if she thought she could save Eve from her fate at the rope.

·       Fucker - Male. Voice behind the camera that watches Eve's every
movement in the jail cell.

·       Marty - F 40-50's. Seasoned author whose made a life telling
others' stories.

·       Grace - F 30-50. Wife of the judge killed by Eve



Auditions will be Saturday December 7th at Noon

and Sunday December 8th 7PM

Please arrive early to fill out an audition form and bring any conflicts
which you may have.

Auditions will consist of readings from the scripts.


Production Dates are Thursday December 13th - Saturday February 22nd (Shows
Thursday through saturday at 7:30 PM).
