Rabbit Run Theater Auditions:
“Wait Until Dark”, Mar. 7, 6:30 pm; Mar. 9, 2 – 4:30 pm;
“Anastasia, the Musical”, Mar. 14 and Mar. 15, 6:30 – 9:30 pm; Mar. 16, 2 –
5 p.m.
“Calendar Girls”, Mar. 28, 6:30 pm; Mar. 30, 2:00 – 4:30 pm
“Sweeney Todd”, Mar. 21 and Mar. 22, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.; Mar. 23, 2 – 5 p.m.
MADISON, OH - Audition appointments are now being taken for the 2025 summer
season at Rabbit Run Theater in Madison, Ohio.
The productions for the summer are “Wait Until Dark”, “Anastasia, the
Musical”, “Calendar Girls” and “Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet
Street”.
Rabbit Run will also be producing a Youth Production, “The Stinky Cheese
Man”. Details for the youth production auditions to follow.
“Wait Until Dark”, a mystery/drama by Frederick Knott, runs from May 23
through June 7. The production is directed by Ann Hedger, and the show is
rated 13+ for content. There are roles available for adults ages 21 and
up. There is also a child role available for a girl aged 9 through 12.
Auditions for “Wait Until Dark” are Friday, Mar. 7 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
and Sunday, Mar. 9 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
“Wait Until Dark” is a masterfully constructed thriller moving from one
moment of suspense to another as it builds to a breath-stopping final scene.
The second production for the summer, “Anastasia, the Musical”, transports
the audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of
Paris in the 1920’s as a young woman seeks to solve the mystery of her
past. Coupled with a dashing con-man and a loveable ex-aristocrat, the
three embark on a grand adventure to find home, love and family.
“Anastasia, the Musical” is written by Terrence McNally with music by
Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. The show is directed by Brint
Learned with musical direction by Alex Ulle and choreography by Hannah
Green. “Anastasia, the Musical” runs from June 13 through July 5 and is
rated for general audiences.
There are roles available for actors ages 15 through adult. There are two
child actor roles in the production for one boy and one girl ages 8 to 9
(both need to sing and dance). Auditions are Friday, Mar. 14 and Saturday
Mar., 15, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 16 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Following “Anastasia” is a comedy by Tim Firth, “Calendar Girls”, which
runs July 18 through Aug. 2 at Rabbit Run, and is directed by Ann Hedger.
“Calendar Girls” is based on the true story of eleven older women who posed
nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund and has
become one of the fastest selling plays in British theatre history.
Auditions for “Calendar Girls” are Friday, Mar. 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
and Sunday, Mar. 30, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. There are multiple adult roles
available for actors ages 21 and up.
The last production for the summer is ‘Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of
Fleet Street”, a musical thriller with music and lyrics by Stephen
Sondheim, book by Hugh Wheeler, and from an adaptation by Christopher Bond.
“Sweeney Todd” opens Aug. 8 and runs through Aug. 30 and is rated 13+ for
content.
This production is directed by Brint Learned with musical direction by
Jonathan Gordon and choreography by Heather Felden. There are multiple
roles available for actors ages 15 and up.
“Sweeney Todd” has been a worldwide success since winning eight Tony Awards
and is a thrilling theatrical treat that has shocked, awed and delighted
audiences.
Auditions for “Sweeney Todd” are Friday, Mar. 21 and Saturday, Mar. 22,
from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 23 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Actors auditioning for a musical should prepare to sing 16 measures of a
Broadway-style song from memory. Please bring sheet music for the
accompanist in a binder. No pre-recorded accompaniment or CD tracks.
Actors auditioning for a non-musical do not need to prepare a monologue as
actors will read sides from the script. Actors should dress business
casual (jeans are acceptable, no sweatpants).
All auditions are at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association, 49 Park St.,

Rabbit Run Theater is one of the few barn theaters remaining in Ohio and is
open every summer from late May through the end of August. The theater is
located at 5648 W. Chapel Rd., Madison.
RRCAA is a comprehensive fine arts association offering year-round
instruction in all the major disciplines of the fine and performing arts
and also operates Rabbit Run Theater. Partial funding is provided by the
Ohio Arts Council, Dairy Queen, Hearn Plumbing and Heating, Huffman-Mayer
Wealth Management Group, Junction Auto and and Remarkable Lake County.
