Blue Macaroon Theater Company in Doylestown,  OH announces AUDITIONS for
our next stage production, Noel Coward's "Blithe Spirit" on Sunday, March
30th and Monday, March 31st. Performances will be the weekend of May 30th.

A smash comedy hit in London and New York, this much-revived classic from
the playwright of Private Lives concerns fussy, cantankerous novelist
Charles Condomine, who has remarried but finds himself haunted (literally)
by the ghost of his late first wife, Elvira. Clever, insistent and well
aware of Charles' shortcomings, Elvira is called up by a visiting “happy
medium,” the eccentric and flighty Madame Arcati. As everyone's
personalities clash, Charles’ current wife, Ruth, is accidentally killed.
She “passes over” and joins Elvira, allowing the two “blithe spirits” to
haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity.

Cast of Characters (ALL ROLES AVAILABLE):

CHARLES CONDOMINE - Male Mid 30's - 40's.  Successful novelist.
Sophisticated, articulate, debonair.
RUTH CONDOMINE - Female Mid 30's - 40's. Charles' second wife.  Society
matron, witty, sophisticated, maybe a little "stuffy".
ELVIRA (El-vee-rah) - Female Mid 20's - 30's.  Charle's first wife.  Femme
fatale - spirited, outgoing, carefree.  Ghost.
MADAME ARCATI - Female, Elderly but spry.  The local spiritualist and
medium.  Energetic and outlandish.
DR. GEORGE BRADMAN - Male 30's - 50's.  Charle's best friend.
MRS. VIOLET BRADMAN - Female 30's - 50's.  George's wife and Ruth's
confidant.
EDITH - Female, Late teens - 20's.  Charle's and Ruth's enthusiastic maid.
Holds a secret.  Cockney accent.

NOTES FOR ACTORS:

The play takes place in Kent, England in the 1940's.

Actors will need to be comfortable or to become comfortable with the
following (to varying degrees, based on role):

- Physical comedy (facial expressions, pratfalls, pantomime, big motions)
- Onstage romance (physical touch and closeness, kissing)
- High chemistry with fellow actors
- Articulate accents

Blue Macaroon Theater is a "blackbox" style theatre UPSTAIRS on the west
corner of N Portage Street and W Marion Street in downtown Doylestown, just
4 minutes west of Rt 21.  The most likely available parking is on the
corner of W Marion St and Park Dr, slightly behind the Blue Macaroon
Theater.
