Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) announces part two of its quintessential play development series, Test Flight, back with three more Northeast Ohio playwrights. In this second group, we present a Cleveland Burlesque<https://www.clevelandburlesque.com/> alum Issa Vybe Productions & Double D' Lee's Unhinged: A Burlesque Play on Modern Dating Struggles<https://www.cptonline.org/performances/seasons/2024-2025/test-flight-part-2-week-1-unhinged-burlesque-play-on-modern-dating-struggles/>, Teatro Público de Cleveland's<https://www.cptonline.org/education/teatro-publico-de-cleveland/> (TPC) telenovela-flavored Grandeza<https://www.cptonline.org/performances/seasons/2024-2025/test-flight-part-2-week-2-grandeza/> which is well on its way to full production as this is the second workshop production of the play which was first workshopped in TPC's Debut de Piezas Teatrales: Festival de Lectura (A Festival of New Play Readings)<https://www.cptonline.org/performances/seasons/2023-2024/debut-de-piezas-teatrales-festival-de-lectura-a-festival-of-new-play-readings/> in 2023. Lastly, we're featuring Future Never Land<https://www.cptonline.org/performances/seasons/2024-2025/test-flight-part-2-week-3-future-never-land/>, a "sci-fi rap opera" to compositions by Saint-Saens & Debussy by local musician Josiah Britt directed by Jimmie Woody.

Each performer will share a personal monologue-burlesque piece, beginning in darkness and spotlighting their stories of toxic relationships, such as love bombing. After showcasing their struggles through expressive performance art, the cast will reconvene to share how they've overcome these challenges, distributing resources for support and healing.

Grandeza is a dark comedy exploration of identity, courage, and the weight of cultural expectations. When a teenager comes out of the closet, he uncovers a startling truth: the entire world is trapped in closets of their own, clinging to traditions that have shaped and confined them.

Future Never Land is a historical sci-fi rap opera paired with famous classical music compositions by Saint-Saens & Debussy. It follows the serendipitous journey of two ordinary citizens as they discover a secret society of Cleveland luminaries fighting against evil forces that plague the past, present and future.

Presented Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7pm in CPT's James Levin Theatre, located at 6415 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102, in the heart of the Gordon Square Arts District.
