*The Millennial Theatre Company Presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat at Youngstown Playhouse*

*YOUNGSTOWN, OH* – The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) will present *Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat* at The Youngstown Playhouse (600
Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, OH 44511) on July 11-13, 18-20, with Friday and
Saturday performances at 7:30 PM and Sunday performances at 2:30 PM.

One of the most enduring shows of all time, *Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat,* is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph,
his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors. Told
entirely through song with the help of the Narrator, the musical follows
preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he
ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in jail after
refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife. While imprisoned, Joseph
discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in
front of the mighty Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates
him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with his family.

Director of the production, Joe Asente, says that even if you have seen
*Joseph* before, you will still find new surprises in this production, "We
knew going into this that Youngstown audiences were very familiar with this
show. Between the universally beloved Donny Osmond film version, and the
rich history of this show being produced locally on a Broadway-scale by our
friends at Easy Street Productions, there was a built-in expectation of
what audiences would want to see from this show. We tried very hard to
honor and meet those expectations, while also sprinkling in a few of our
own new, creative twists throughout. Without giving too much away, we have
gone in new directions with several of our characters by updating some of
their references to help entertain our contemporary audience in ways that
they may not expect. We hope audiences will come and see this new take on
Joseph and come experience this show and be surprised by it in new and
exciting ways!"

Asente continued that *Joseph* is the perfect summer musical, "In the
summer, we always try to program shows that you can bring your kids and
family to, and there are few musicals more family-oriented than *Joseph*.
There is truly something for everyone in this musical from its highfalutin'
cowboy numbers, to its energetic disco numbers and catchy tunes. It is the
perfect summer escape, with an incredibly talented cast to boot!"
