We want to update you on the developments as we move forward at our new home, Coach House. Renovations are underway — painting, lights, HVAC system, seats, carpeting, tile. Whew, we are working hard to give you an inviting comfortable place to enjoy live theater. The theater is located at 732 W. Exchange Street, in Akron. For free parking, use the entrance from S. Portage Path.Our grand opening show will be “The Night I Died at the Palace Theater” featuring theSilver Lining Players. Opening night (and the first fatality) will be September 19 at 7:00.This comedy takes place on the stage of the Palace Theater with a cast that thrives on mayhem. Mark your calendar now and see our website for the run dates through September 28.On September 28 we will have the last matinee at 2:00 for “The Night I Died at the Palace Theater” followed at 7:00 by a workshop reading of a play-in-progress, “Demise” directed by Rose Gabriele. After the play, the audience will be invited to provide feedback and respond to the show with the director and playwright taking notes. You can help shape the script and join in the creative process.We hope you will be part of launching Makeshift Theater in our new home and become a regular part of our audience as we explore, new and classic plays.
