[NEohioPAL] Seeking Dance/Music instructor in Akron area, and casting for touring season

Spark Theatre Company announces non-equity auditions for our upcoming
touring assembly season. Touring Assemblies generally perform selected
weekdays throughout the touring period at schools and locations in NE Ohio.
Although conflicts may be worked around when known in advance, actors
should have general daytime availability within the touring period.
Additionally, we are seeking a teaching artist available to lead
music/dance themed classes in Akron, OH. Details for these positions are
below.


*TEACHING ARTIST POSITION*- Music & Dance Specialty

Tuesdays 4-5pm in Akron, OH starting September 9th and culminating in
December with a talent show performance. This is an intro to music and
dance class with the emphasis on fun! Ages of students vary from 8-18.

Pay: $50/hour

*TOURING SHOW ACTORS:*

Why Won’t Zee Quack? by Wayne Keller

Rehearsals begin: November 17th around actor availability

Touring Dates: December 1st-20th with Saturday performances on December 13
and 20.

In a world where every duckling is expected to quack, a quiet youngling,
Zee, dares to be different. Why Won't Zee Quack? is a heartwarming tale
about a non-verbal duckling who, despite being teased by his noisier
siblings, ultimately becomes their unlikely hero. When danger strikes, it’s
his unique way of seeing the world—and his silent courage—that saves the
day. This charming play celebrates the power of individuality, the strength
in differences, and the truth that every voice matters… even the ones we
can’t hear.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Zee- A young duckling who struggles to quack, and prefers to communicate in
other ways. This character is based on the playwright's nonverbal Autistic
son and preference will be given to actors who are Autistic, neurodivergent
people, and actors with other disabilities. Open to all genders and
ethnicities.

**All other roles in this production are currently cast, however,
submissions will always be considered for replacements!*

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe From the story by C.S. Lewis,
dramatized by Le Clanche du Rand

Rehearsals begin: January 19th around actor availability

Touring Dates: February 9th-March 6th, 2026 with Saturday performances on
February 21st and 28th.

Step through the wardrobe like never before in this inventive two-person
retelling of C.S. Lewis’s beloved classic. With a trunk of props and the
power of imagination, two actors transform into lions, witches, fauns, and
Pevensies, bringing the magical land of Narnia to life! This dynamic
adaptation celebrates the wonder of storytelling, the strength of courage,
and the enduring battle between good and evil—in an heroic tale that has
enthralled audiences of all ages.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Actor 1: Female identifying actor to play multiple roles.

Actor 2: Male identifying actor to play multiple roles.


Stuart Little by E.B. White, Adapted by Joseph Robinette

Rehearsals begin: April 2026 around actor availability

Touring Period: May 4th-29th, 2026

adventure full of courage, curiosity, and pint-sized determination! Stuart
Little follows the journey of an extraordinary mouse born into an ordinary
New York City family. With a big heart and an even bigger sense of
adventure, Stuart navigates the challenges of being little in a great big
world—from dodging cats to sailing toy boats and searching for his missing
friend, Margalo. Bursting with imagination, humor, and heart, this live
adaptation celebrates the power of resilience, the meaning of friendship,
and the joy of discovering who you are, no matter your size.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Stuart- Stuart is the adventurous protagonist! He is kind, flawed and
brave. Stuart protects his friend Margalo, races a boat, drives a toy race
car and is even a substitute teacher!

Ensemble- 3-4 actors of any gender and type to play multiple roles
throughout the story.

WHO: Auditions are open to all actors who can work as local to Lorain
County, OH. Spark Theatre Company does not provide actor housing. These
positions are primarily held for actors 18 years of age and older, although
actors under 18 with daytime availability for the touring period will be
considered on a case by case basis. All actors cast should have reliable
transportation and be able to pass an FBI background check.

Spark Theatre embraces diversity and inclusion and utilizes a
non-traditional casting policy. Non-traditional casting is a method
designed to increase artistic options by expanding casting opportunities
for women, actors of color, seniors, and actors with disabilities in roles
where race, gender, age, or the presence or absence of a disability are not
germane. To that end, we encourage all actors to audition, regardless of
race, ethnicity, gender identity, or physical ability.

PAY: All touring show performers are paid a stipend based on role,
experience, and length of time with the company plus $0.70/mile driven to
and from all performance locations. Stipends begin at $500.00.

Casting is done on a rolling basis and auditions will be reviewed in the
order they are received. Although there is no deadline to submit an
audition, earlier submissions are encouraged as roles will be offered and
filled as auditions are received.
