🎭 Karamu House Theatre – Now Hiring Acting Instructors (Fall 2025)
Karamu House Theatre, the nation’s oldest producing African American theatre, is seeking two dynamic teaching artists to join our Sankofa Arts Academy for Fall 2025.
This year’s programming proudly aligns with our 110th Anniversary theme:

📌 Positions Available
1. Adult Acting Instructor — Sankofa: Acting for Adults

  *
Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:00–7:30 PM (expands to 8:30 PM after Week 6)
  *
Program Dates: Sept 29 – Dec 13, 2025
  *
Performance Dates: Dec 12–13, 2025
  *
Location: Karamu House Concert Hall
  *
Focus: Progressive training in voice, movement, character, and scene work using texts that reflect cultural identity and social relevance.

2. Youth Acting Instructor — Sankofa: Acting Novice

  *
Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:00–6:30 PM (expands to 7:30 PM after Week 6)
  *
Program Dates: Sept 29 – Dec 13, 2025
  *
Performance Dates: Dec 12–13, 2025
  *
Jury Evaluation: Dec 16, 2025, 5:00 PM
  *
Location: Karamu House Upper Drama Studio
  *
Focus: Beginner-level instruction in character, voice, body, and ensemble work through culturally relevant scenes. Builds confidence, empathy, and readiness for future performance.

✅ Qualifications (Both Positions)

  *
Teaching experience with the respective age group (adults or youth).
  *
Strong foundation in voice, movement, character work, and ensemble-based training.
  *
Experience with culturally relevant texts.
  *
Ability to foster inclusive, supportive, and progressive classrooms.
  *
Must be available for all scheduled classes and final performances.
