*MTC to Take Audiences to the Upside Down with the Stranger Things Parody
Musical, Stranger Sings, Starting This Weekend at the Youngstown Playhouse!*

*YOUNGSTOWN, OH *– The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) will present the
area premiere of the hit parody musical, *Stranger Sings* at the Youngstown
Playhouse (600 Playhouse Lane Youngstown, OH 44511) beginning this Friday
for a 3 weekend run, with performances November 7-9, 14-16, 21-23.

*Stranger Sings *is a parody musical based on the story of the hit Netflix
series, *Stranger Things*. The show invites you to take a trip back to
Hawkins, Indiana: 1983… when times were simpler, hair was bigger, and
unsupervised children were getting snatched by interdimensional creatures.
This parody mainly focuses on season one, following the disappearance of
local kid Will Byers, after playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons at his
friends house, and is a hilarious ‘upside down’ take on the hit Netflix
series - and all its campy 1980s glory. Featuring all of the beloved
characters from the hit series, including Mike, Lucas, and Dustin, Eleven,
Joyce, Hopper and more as they embark on a night of adventure, thrills,
pubescent angst, heavy synth, poor parenting, convoluted love triangles,
cheap effects, dancing monsters, and maybe, just maybe... justice for
everyone’s favorite missing ginger, Barb Holland.

Director Joe Asente said this production truly has something for everyone,
not just the hardcore *Stranger Things* fans, “While the show certainly has
many in-jokes and easter eggs for the superfans of the Netflix series, the
show is written in such a way that you can enjoy it without having ever
seen an episode of the series. There are so many fun, nostalgic 80’s and
musical theatre references that make this an enjoyable evening for just
about any audience member, regardless of their knowledge of the source
material. That being said, if you are a fan of the series, this show has
everything and more. All of your favorite characters, a plot line you love
(and some new plotlines you may never see coming!), and several nods to
80’s pop culture, music, and more!

The musical, written by Jonathan Hogue, recently enjoyed an extremely
successful Off-Broadway run, and MTC is among the first in the nation to
produce the show. Asente said, “We are honored to be among the first in the
nation to bring this show to our stage, and the timing could not be better.
Our production closes on Sunday, November 23, and the final season
premieres on Thursday, November 27,  so this is
an excellent way to get back into the world of your favorite Netflix series
and recap the events of season one before we all witness the epic
conclusion later that week. The Millennial Theatre Company is ready and
honored to transport Youngstown audiences to the Upside Down!”

The cast for the production includes Ben Doss, Natalina Kazimir, Caitlin
Overton, Jackie Collins, Joshua Fleming, Edward Bazzell, Ryan Stewart,
Gesse Matlock, Jaye Mills, Kali-Davies Anderson, Ty Hanes, Trudi Herrholtz,
Michelle Jalbert, and Xaine Stenberg. The production is directed by Asente
with  music directed by Cari Auth and choreography by Danielle Mentzer.

Performances for *Stranger Sings *run November 7-9, 14-16, and 21-23 at The
Youngstown Playhouse. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30pm and
Sunday performances are at 2:30pm. Tickets are $25 and are available online
