Sunday Matinees @ 2pmFollies is Stephen Sondheim's musical about former showgirls of the glamorous Weismann Follies reuniting at their crumbling theatre for a final party before demolition. Characters confront faded dreams, lost youth, and unhappy marriages through a dazzling array of old musical styles and haunting encounters with their younger selves, exploring themes of nostalgia, illusion versus reality, and the poignant passage of time.Please prepare a 16-32 bar song demonstrating your
strongest voice qualities and range. Memorization is not required, but helps. Please provide legible music for the accompanist.NO SONDHEIM SELECTIONS PREFERRED.The vocal audition will be followed by reading from the script and a movement exercise.Follies is truly an ensemble show. It is full of featured vocal solos and standout roles, with a story centered around women returning to the Follies — meaning amazing roles for women of all ages. Plus, fantastic vocal and acting roles for men.If you want a chance to truly shine onstage, don’t miss these auditions!The Hudson Players is an all volunteer community theater. We do not precast. All roles are available.Auditions are scheduled from 7:00–9:00 PM and may conclude early if all auditioners have been seen.
