Theatre(CLEVELAND, OH )* - Cleveland Play House (CPH) presents the 2024
Pulitzer Prize winning play *Primary Trust* by Eboni Booth from Sunday,
February 8 through Sunday, March 1, 2026, in the Outcalt Theatre at
Playhouse Square.

*ABOUT THE PLAY*
“This is the story of a friendship. Of how I got a new job. A story of love
and balance and time.” So begins Kenneth’s tale of finding a new job and
discovering new beginnings, new friends, and new hopes. Absorbing, funny,
and deeply moving —it’s no wonder that *Primary Trust* is one of the most
popular plays in the country. It is a gentle, quietly powerful play about
Kenneth, a soft ‑spoken bookstore clerk whose carefully ordered life
unravels when he
loses his job. As he’s nudged toward new possibilities —including an
unexpected opportunity at the local bank —Kenneth begins to open himself to
connection and discovers that even small acts of trust can reshape a life.

Director Sideeq Heard explains “*Primary Trust* speaks to those who have
been othered, whose humanity has too often been overlooked. Kenneth’s
journey mirrors the isolation and loneliness many of us have learned to
cope with in the modern world, particularly in the age of smartphones and
social media. Despite the protagonist ’s trauma and fear, Eboni Booth’s
vivid language, and use of the fourth wall reminds us of the power of
vulnerability as a vessel for connection.”

"I'm thrilled to bring this beautiful, Tony-award winning play to
Cleveland,” adds Cleveland Play House Artistic Director Michael
Barakiva. “*Primary
Trust* is the perfect kind of feel -good story that is guaranteed to bring
joy to people in the new year."

Pulitzer Prize for Drama, is the kind of play that reminds you why live
theatre matters. It is funny, tender, and deeply human, and it stays with
you long after you leave the theatre. In a moment when so many people are
