LONG AFTER CRYSTAL NIGHT by John Herman Shaner, is about a Jewish family originally from Brooklyn, New York who are now living in Beverly Hills, California. At the beginning of the play, you find out that their teen-aged son, who is attending a prep school, has been punched by a boy at his school in an attack motivated by antisemitism. At the same time, Seymour, the father, has been asked to check out a group called the JDL (Jewish Defense League) who are asking to speak at his B’nai Brith lodge. During this meeting with the men and women in the group, Seymour finds out there is going to be a Nazi rally in the area and the JDL is looking for bail money as well as for people to protest at the rally.

LONG AFTER CRYSTAL NIGHT is a very human story of a man who is confronting his fears, a man who has never been near a physical fight, who in middle age feels the need to stand up for what he believes but is afraid.
