MADISON, OH - Audition appointments are now being taken for the 2026 summer
season at Rabbit Run Theater in Madison, Ohio.
The productions for the summer are “Urinetown, the Musical”, “Stepping
Out”, “Kiss Me Kate” and “The World Goes ‘Round”.
Rabbit Run will also be producing a Youth Production, “The Wizard of Oz:
Youth Edition”. This production will utilize the talents of young actors
ages 12 through 18. Details for the youth production auditions to be
announced soon.
“Urinetown, the Musical” is a musical comedy with music by Mark Hollman and
music and lyrics by Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis. The production runs from
May 22 through June 13. The production is directed by Brint Learned,
musical direction by Alex Ulle and choreography by Sarah Gordon. The show
is rated 13+ for content. There are roles available for adults ages 18 and
up.
Auditions for “Urinetown the Musical” are Saturday, Mar. 14, from 6 to 10
p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 15 from 2 to 5 p.m.
“Urinetown, the Musical” is a comedic satire of populism, bureaucracy,
politics and musical theater itself. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible
water shortage has led to a ban on private toilets. A hero emerges and
leads them all to freedom
The second production for the summer, “Stepping Out”, is a rollicking
comedy about the attempts of some working class amateurs to overcome their
inhibitions and left feet in a dance studio in North London. Coupled with
dramas all along the way, this motley group must be whipped into shape for
their recital.
“Stepping Out” is written by Richard Harris and will be directed by Ann
Hedger. Production dates are June 19 through July 3, and the show is rated
for general audiences.
There are roles available for actors ages 18 and up. Auditions are
Saturday, Mar. 14, 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Following “Stepping Out” is the musical “Kiss Me Kate” with music and
lyrics by Cole Porter and book by Sam and Bella Spewack, which runs July 17
through Aug. 8.
The show is directed by Brint Learned with musical direction by Jonathan
Gordon and choreography by Heather Felden. The production is rated for
general audiences.
The battle of the sexes takes center stage in “Kiss Me Kate” as former
spouses feud onstage and off during a musical presentation of “The Taming
of the Shrew”.
Auditions for “Kiss Me Kate” are Monday, Mar. 16 and Wednesday, Mar. 18,
from 7 to 10 p.m. both days. There are multiple adult roles available for
actors ages 16 and up.
The last production for the summer is “The World Goes ‘Round”, a musical
revue featuring the music of John Kander with lyrics by Fred Ebb.
“The World Goes ‘Round” opens Aug. 14 and runs through Aug. 29 and is rated
for general audiences.
This production is directed by James Penca with musical direction by
Jonathan Gordon and choreography by Haley Luster. There are multiple roles
available for actors ages 16 and up.
Auditions for “The World Goes ‘Round” are Friday, Mar. 6, from 6 to 10 pm
and Saturday, Mar. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Actors auditioning for a musical should prepare to sing 32 measures of a
Broadway-style song from memory. Please bring sheet music for the
accompanist in a binder. No pre-recorded accompaniment or CD tracks.
Actors auditioning for a non-musical do not need to prepare a monologue as
actors will read sides from the script. Actors should dress business
casual (jeans are acceptable, no sweatpants).
Auditions for “Stepping Out” and “The World Goes ‘Round” will be at Rabbit
Run Community Arts Association, 49 Park St., Madison, OH.
Auditions for “Urinetown, the Musical” and “Kiss Me Kate” will be at the
Royce Hall for Performing Arts on the campus of Lake Erie College on
Gillett St. in Painesville.
Auditions are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment call RRCAA
at 440-428-5913. For more information, visit rabbitrun.org.
