AUDITIONS MARCH 26 AND 27 at 6 PM FOR NEW PLAY
Announcing auditions for the premiere of a new play by local playwright S. Joshua Mendel.  Directed by Jerry C. Jaffe.
“The Show!” is comedy/drama that paints a picture of life in an anachronistic health food store, through highlighting the eccentric staff and the often “Looney Tune” customers who come and go.  Although often laugh-out-loud funny, the play makes serious forays into health care, race and gender relations, entrepreneurship, Buddhism, and moving on in life. (Even after death.)
Performance dates: May 29-31 and June 5-7. Location for the auditions and the performances:  Disciples Christian Church. 3663 Mayfield Rd, Cleveland Heights, OH 44121.
Nine/ten actors are needed for this ensemble play:
JIM: Male Caucasian, in his 60s.
BILL MURPHY: Male Caucasian actor, age 50’s+.
MARILYN: Female African-American, in her 60s.
SANDY: Female Caucasian in her 30’s-40.
KATE: Female Caucasian in her 40-50’s. Donalds’s sister.
DONALD: Caucasian male, 40-50’s. Kate’s brother.
RASHIDA: Female, African-American, age 50’s.
CUSTOMERS (3):
Male, Caucasian, age at least 50. Customers #3, 5, and 11.
Female, African-American, age at least 50. Customers #4, 7, and 10. (This actor may also play RASHIDA)
Male, African-American, 20-30’s: Customers #1, 2, 6, 8 and 9.

Auditions are open to anyone in our community. When possible, all casting is made without regard to gender, race, disability, or age.   Note, in the case of some roles, the play highlights multi-generational relationships and includes the implications of gender, race, and age of the characters. The auditions themselves will be based primarily on improv, as well as reading some scenes as provided. Come dressed to play and with a ton of creative energy. Singers, dancers, or “other talents” may provide additional material.

A stipend will be paid. Not an Equity production.
