<b>Paloma McGregor</b>, (MFA in Dance, Case Western Reserve
University), dancer with the Urban Bush Women, teaches community dance
classes on Wednesday and Thursday, October 10 and 11 at the Passport
Project Global Community Arts Center.<b> Bio below, photo attached. </b>McGregor,
a Cleveland resident for 6-years when she was a reporter at the Plain
Dealer, is focused on community building and a unique dance style
created through exposure to various dance forms, including Caribbean
and West African techniques. <br>

<b>Schedule:</b><br>
Wednesday and Thursday, October 10 and 11; Open to teens and adults of
all levels:<br>
<br>
<b>6:15-7:45PM: Modern Technique</b> - Using range of influences, from
Yoga to Modern to West African, this class focuses on core strength,
spatial awareness, clarity of focus, transitions, weight and rebound.
It is a great class for all levels: beginners will delve into
foundation elements of dance, more advanced students can deepen their
awareness and strength, and all will experience the joy of moving.<br>
<br>
<b>8-9:30PM: Creating Community</b> - This workshop focuses on telling
stories through dance and text to build greater understanding of
ourselves and one another. Students are guided through creative writing
exercises, movement-generation tools and collaborative exercises. It is
a perfect class for writers, teachers, dancers, teens, adults and
anyone interested in how the arts can help us value our individual
experience and bridge the gap between ourselves and others. <br>

<b>Paloma McGregor, Biography:<br>
</b>PALOMA MCGREGOR is in her third season with Urban Bush Women dance
company, with whom she has performed at such venues as the Kennedy
Center, the Joyce Theater and City Center. Her choreography has been
presented in New York at Bronx Academy of Art and Dance, BRIC-Studio,
Tribeca Performing Arts Center and Gowanus, as well as the Dance Place
in Washington D.C. and Cleveland Public Theater in Ohio. Ms. McGregor
has designed and taught dance, poetry and community engagement
workshops for community groups, educators, public schools and
universities across the country, including University of California at
San Diego, the National Conference of Montessori Teachers, the Girl
Scouts of New York City, the School of Caribbean Dance Company and
PS/MS 111 in Manhattan. Last summer, Ms. McGregor received a
scholarship to participate in the Choreographer’s Lab focusing on
community art-making at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival,
where she worked with youth from a juvenile detention program in
Massachusetts to create dance works. Ms. McGregor specializes in
creative movement workshops that empower participants to explore their
creative voices through writing and choreography.<br>
