announced the receipt of a major grant from the GAR Foundation to support
special daytime performances of the classic tragedy <I
style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">MEDEA</I>. The play, written by Euripides,
is being performed in the version adapted by the American poet, Robinson
Jeffers. The grant provides subsidized and free tickets as well as
transportation for <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Summit</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType
w:st="on">County</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> students from economically
depressed schools. The special performances are offered at 10:00 a.m. October 22
through October 26 and October 29 through November 2. Discounted student tickets
are also available at all regular performances. <EM><SPAN
style="FONT-STYLE: normal; FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-style: italic">The
play will have a preview performance on Thursday October 18, and will play
through November 4 at Actors’ Summit Theater in downtown <st1:City

& Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Argonauts, sought Medea’s help in his quest for the golden fleece. Having
succeeded in his great adventure, Jason and Medea have settled in <st1:City
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Corinth</st1:place></st1:City>. Jason abandons
Medea to marry the daughter of Creon, the ruler of <st1:City
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Corinth</st1:place></st1:City>. Enraged, Medea
takes a terrible revenge on Jason and Creon.
