is based upon the Salem Witch trials of 1692. The story begins when Abigail
Williams accuses others of having a relationship with the devil. The
result of these accusations is two years of witch hunts and the deaths of 20
people. Although <i><span style='font-style:italic'>The Crucible</span></i>
is based upon events of the 17<sup>th</sup> century, it is also an allegory of
the communist “Red Scare” of the 1950s. <i><span
style='font-style:italic'>The Crucible</span></i> is presented through a
special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service inc.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
