owners but there is a pressing issue that affects all lists.</DIV>

<DIV style="MARGIN: 0px">To point: there are too many AOL subscribers that are
reporting list email as spam. This only occurs when subscribers explicitly click
the Spam button on email from the lists.</DIV>

<DIV style="MARGIN: 0px">For privacy reasons AOL does not inform us what
subscribers are reporting list traffic as spam, which leaves mass unsubscribing
AOL addresses as the only solution. Naturally this is not a step we take lightly
and we're asking you to inform your subscribers to stop this behaviour before we
are forced to take that step.</DIV>
<DIV style="MIN-HEIGHT: 14px; MARGIN: 0px"><BR></DIV>
<DIV style="MARGIN: 0px">We've seen similar problems recently with Comcast, Cox
and Optonline. I cannot directly blame the ISPs as they seem to just be reacting
to user input. The ISPs cannot know that someone asked to be on a list and they
do not have the resources to examine each message marked as spam.</DIV>
<DIV style="MIN-HEIGHT: 14px; MARGIN: 0px"><BR></DIV>
<DIV style="MARGIN: 0px">What can be done about this? Right now all you can do
is to inform your subscribers to halt this behaviour. It is equally important
that you, as a list owner, do not report _any_ email from the list as spam. Also
you might want to turn on the Monthly Reminder feature. The Monthly Reminder
goes out once a month (on the 1st) and contains a link to that subscribers
personal options page and their password. If the a Monthly Reminder sent to an
AOL subscriber is marked as spam then at least I will receive notification and
remove the subscriber manually. At this time those are the only messages that
AOL will report back with the subscriber's email address and are the only way we
have to track any complaint down to a specific subscriber.</DIV>
<DIV style="MIN-HEIGHT: 14px; MARGIN: 0px"><BR></DIV>
<DIV style="MARGIN: 0px">For the long term, soon we will implement a
'personalization' feature which will place the subscriber's email address in the
footer of each message that goes out. This will make it easier to track down
specific subscribers that are causing problems, much like the Monthly Reports
except with each list message instead of once a month. You will be able to turn
this off if you do not want to do
