settlers who resist the dismantling of their settlement by the Israeli Defense
Forces. Set in the near future after the signing of a Peace Accord between the
Israeli Government and the Palestinian Authority, Pangs of the Messiah reveals
the widely divergent responses within an extended family as Shmuel, the leader
of the settlement movement, is forced to reckon with the legacy of his
teachings. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

was born in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Israel</st1:country-region></st1:place>
in 1949.  He currently teaches "Political Playwriting" at <st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Tel</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Aviv</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType
w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> and has been active in the peace movement
in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Israel</st1:country-region></st1:place>
since 1973. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

Detroit, La MaMa Experimental Theatre in New York), Hard Love, (Theatre Or in
Durham, NC and Victory Gardens in Chicago), Passing The Love of Women (Theater
J, Washington DC) and Coming Home (Golden Thread Productions in San
Francisco).  His feature film <em><i><font face=Arial><span
style='font-family:Arial;font-style:normal'>Spring 1941</span></font></i></em>
is currently in production in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Poland</st1:country-region></st1:place>
and will star Joseph Fiennes and Claire Higgins. He is a recipient of the
Meskin Award for the best play (1985) and the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
 w:st="on">Israeli</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Motion</st1:PlaceName>
