Cooney opens on October 17 at 7:30 pm<BR></FONT></DIV>
<DIV> <STRONG><FONT size=5>On October 17, 2008, at 7:30 pm, the raucous
slapstick comedy, Run for Your Wife, by Ray Cooney, will open at the Canal
Fulton Players’ Fellowship Hall Theatre, 363 West Cherry Street, Canal Fulton,
Ohio. It will be presented six times over the next two weeks at 7:30 pm
each night. The cost of admission is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for
seniors and children under the age of twelve years.<BR> The story is about
a London taxi driver who has a problem saying “no” to marriage. Married to
two woman, John Smith, the taxi driver with ordinary looks and an equal
personality, maintains two separate apartments with two separate schedules,
neighbors and police officers hounding him. When a simple act of heroism
thrusts him into the limelight, the fun begins.<BR> John Smith is played by
Mike Groom who last appeared as the Guard of the Inquisition in last May’s
production of Man of La Mancha. He is married to Mary, played by Anita
Artzner (Aldonza in Man of La Mancha), and Barbara, played by newcomer Melissa
Wagner. Mary is the serious straight laced wife while Barbara is the bawdy
and colorful wife. Both are very much in love with John for some peculiar
reason.<BR> John’s upstairs neighbor, Stanley Gardner, stumbles onto John’s
secret during a conversation. Played by newcomer Steve Boardman, Stanley
cannot believe his ears or eyes as he watches and hears the stories
unfold. Stanley always thought he was the one who was extraordinary in the
social department but he is absolutely stunned when his not so special neighbor
manages to maintain a rather secret and illegal life.<BR> Making life
interesting and difficult are two police officers- one who works out of the
Wimbledon station, the other out of the Streatham station. Sergeant
Troughton is played by Jon Neumann, who was last seen as a Muleteer in Man of La
Mancha. Sergeant Porterhouse is played by Ray Olivera, who was last seen
as Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha. <BR> Barbara’s and John’s
upstairs neighbor, Bobby Franklyn, is a frustrated interior designer who somehow
cannot make his collaborator, Cyril, understand that spilt paint can seep into
the apartment below. Played by Jack Yoak (Tyler Moss of Crossing
Delancey), Bobby cannot get over the rather unbelievable shenanigans that John
does to avoid detection.<BR> Drew Hutchinson rounds the cast out portraying
the news photographer who does not know what type of story he failed to
photograph.<BR> The play is a Samuel French <FONT
face="Times New Roman">production</FONT> and is directed by David Van Gaasbeek
