<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in; TEXT-ALIGN: left; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="COLOR: black">Solon</span><span style="COLOR: black"> </span><span style="COLOR: black">Center</span><span style="COLOR: black"> for the Arts will be holding its First Annual Playwriting Competition in January, 2009. In an effort to give new voice to the youth of </span><span style="COLOR: black">Northeast Ohio</span><span style="COLOR: black">, SCA proudly presents this opportunity to students in grades 7 through 12. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>This exciting competition will give applicants a chance to submit their own short piece of drama based on the theme of <strong><span style="FONT-WEIGHT: normal; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold">"Everyday Adventures"</span></strong><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">.</b> These pieces will then be considered for potential production at SCA in the spring of 2009.</span></font></font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-ALIGN: left; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><span style="COLOR: black"><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </span>Students who are interested in entering this competition but are unsure of where to start can refer to the SCA's winter catalogue. SCA will be offering workshops in playwriting to help encourage students in the creation of their own works. </font></font></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-ALIGN: left; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><span style="COLOR: black"><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </span>Once all submissions are collected, a panel of qualified judges will choose up to three plays to be produced by SCA. These productions will be performed by the SCA Spotlight Youth Theater students in grades 5 through 8 on Friday, May 29, 2009. Students interested in auditioning to be in one of these productions should also refer to the SCA catalogue.</font></font></span></p>

All submissions should be typed (no more than 10 pages in length) and sent with the playwrights name, age, phone number and email address. Entries must be received no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, January 23, 2009.
