THE LUCKY SPOT is non - traditional holiday entreatment perfect for the season and a great alternative to the well known Holiday shows being offered!

SYNOPSIS: This relatively unknown Beth Henley play is set in an old Victorian house in Pigeon, Louisiana, 30 miles west of New Orleans on Christmas Eve 1934. A charming, card sharp by the name of Reed Hooker won the old house in a game and plans to turn it into the Lucky Spot Dance Hall. Along for the ride are his trusty but slowwitted handyman Turnip and Cassidy Smith a teenage girl he also won in the card game. The group's plans for a smooth opening are thwarted when the pregnant Cassidy invites Reed's estranged wife to join them for Christmas in the hopes of Reed asking her for a divorce.

Sue Jack Reed is available for Christmas dinner because she has just been released from Angola prison after a three-year stint for throwing a woman she found in bed with Reed over a balcony in a fit of jealousy. A former New Orleans taxi dancer, the mere thought of Sue Jack coming to the Lucky Spot, scares the dancers Reed has hired enough to flee, who are aware of Sue Jack's notorious jealous streak and mean drunkenness. Only one dancer, Lacey Rollins remains. She has no money to depart and is disliked enough by her peers for them not to lend her the money.

Into the fray appears Whitt Carmichael, a former beau of Sue Jack's and brother of the woman she threw off the balcony. Is he bent on revenge or reconciliation? Will the Lucky Spot open on time and will it be successful? The action is fast with moments of true tenderness in this Henley dramady populated with the quirky and memorable character for which she is known.
