<P><B>Weathervane Playhouse will hold OPEN CALL AUDITIONS </B>for Lynn Nottage’s
<B><I>INTIMATE APPAREL</I> </B>which will be performed in Weathervane’s John L.
Dietz Theater. Auditions will be held at Weathervane Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane
Lane (in the Valley off Merriman Road) on <B>Monday, January 5 at 7 p.m.
</B>Auditioners MAY prepare any monologue up to 2-minutes in length. Scripts and
audition scenes available at the Playhouse.</P><B>

<P>Mayme: 30s, African-American prostitute and dance hall performer</P>
<P>George: 30s, Black laborer from
Barbados</P></DIR></DIR></DIR></DIR></DIR></DIR>
<P align=center>Synopsis:</P>
<P>In 1905 Manhattan, Ester Mills sews beautiful corsets for a living. Her art
and talent have earned her economic independence rare for an unmarried woman of
color. At 35, Esther has no suitors but corresponds with George, a Barbadian
laborer who is helping to build the Panama Canal. As the correspondence grows
more passionate, George proposes to Esther and moves to New York to marry her.
With the odds staked against her, Esther struggles to keep her dreams alive
during a time of great social and economic change.</P>
<P>Director for the production is <B>Karen Sabo</B>, a director, actor and
teacher who recently relocated to Ohio from southwestern Virginia. She has been
a member of a resident acting company at two professional theaters and was a
Resident Director at the Barter Theatre in Abington, VA. She is a member of
Actors’ Equity and her most recent project is producing a feature-length
independent film called <I>This is Not the South,</I> written by her husband,
Dr. Derek Davidson.</P></FONT></FONT></DIV>
